Alexis Grey, Certified Residential Appraiser
Hi there—I’m Alexis Grey of Valley Foothill Appraisals.
My start in real estate began in 2001 while working for the family business—a residential and commercial appraisal firm founded in 1978. I became licensed as a residential appraiser in 2005.
I’ve since completed an undergraduate program in Interior Architecture and Design from U.C. Davis, which focused on space planning and programming for residential, mixed-use and institutional buildings. For 10 years, I held a Real Estate Broker license. My intersecting background of real estate and design enables me to better understand the myriad of factors which create (or diminish) value.
In 2013 I was appointed to the Department of Veteran Affairs as a fee panel appraiser. Serving the Veteran community has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. My work in appraising has continued with over 5,000 assignments in five counties, and hundreds of neighborhoods.
I deeply enjoy the challenging and varied nature of residential appraisal work. Within the Greater Sacramento and Foothill region exists incredible nuance and complexity. I love the problem solving required in the valuation process and have a passion for research and reporting on the many factors that impact value.
I try to approach each assignment with transparency, thoroughness, humility and curiosity. While robust knowledge of a market area is priceless, market conditions, industry practices, and factors that influence value can change over time. Having a “beginner’s mind” coupled with decades of experience makes for a strong foundation in valuation practice.
I work alongside some of the brightest minds as a member of the Real Estate Appraisers Association, Sacramento chapter. I currently serve as a board member and assist with REAA’s content writing. In my free time, I’m usually with my partner hiking in the Foothills, learning, cooking, or indulging in wellness practices.
Overall, I love to keep learning about real estate and to help demystify the appraisal process for others. If I can be of any help, or if there’s something you’d like share about what’s happening in your market area, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line. I look forward to hearing from you.
